The Coeymans Hollow Ladies Auxiliary expresses its Appreciation:

Coeymans Hollow Ladies Auxiliary President Mary Ann Dennis thanks all of the members who helped with this year's Manhattan Clam Chowder Sale.  We had a very good turnout for chopping and assistance with making the Chowder, Beer Bread and selling the items.  This year's Chowder Sale was a huge success and all proceeds will be going towards the Coeymans Hollow Scholarship Fund.  The Ladies Auxiliary made an extra batch of Chowder and we have a very limited amount of FROZEN quarts that are available for $5.00.  If you are interested in purchasing some, please call Mary Ann at 767-2621 and we will make arrangements for picking up the chowder at the Firehouse.

Appreciation Extended:

To offer an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other's company, our members enjoyed a Pot Luck St. Patrick's Day Party last weekend. The Membership of the Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire corporation would like to extend its appreciation to Mary Ann Dennis, Michelle Kapusta and Jody Burrows for planning the get together.  It was nice to take an evening off to sit down with fellow members and talk about the past year, our families and up-coming events.  Everyone worked hard during the construction, operating out of the Town Garage to keep our Emergency Services to the community going.  We appreciate everyone's help throughout the year. Brush Fire in Coeymans Hollow takes time to put out:

At 5:05pm Sunday March 13, Firefighters responded to a large Brush Fire between Bushendorf Road and Fares Road in Coeymans Hollow.  Crews from Coeymans Hollow had a difficult time accessing the fire due to the terrain in the area.  Second Assistant Chief Bill Sadowski called for mutual aid from New Baltimore, Berne, East Berne, Delmar and Slingerlands for man power and their UTV Vehicles so they could access the fire and shuttle manpower and equipment in and out of the fire zone. Water was supplied by tankers and a water source was eventually established by using a portable pump to pump water from a swamp.  Fire crews had a difficult time controlling the the blaze but once they were able to get crews into the fire scene, 70 firefighters all worked together to quell the fire and stop it from spreading.  Portable lights had to be brought into the woods so firefighters could see.  The fire was brought under control and declared out and cleaned up around 10:00p.m.  No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.

Second Assistant Chief Bill Sadowski would like to express his appreciation to New Baltimore Fire, Berne Fire, East Berne Fire, Delmar Fire and Slingerlands Fire for their assistance with fighting the fire with their manpower and their UTVs, Ravena Rescue and Albany County Paramedics for stand by in the scene, Coeymans Police, Albany County Sheriffs and the Albany County Fire Coordinator to their assistance.  Chief Sadowski would like to extend his appreciation to the Coeymans Hollow Ladies Auxiliary for providing cold drinks and sandwiches at the fire scene and also at the firehouse.
